5 Ways Gratitude Will Transform Your Business

leadership life Nov 26, 2021

Did you know that practicing gratitude can literally change your brain chemistry? Regularly practicing can make it easier for you to deal with adversity and difficulties you come across, experience less stress, build stronger relationships, and feel more positive emotions. If you commit to practicing gratitude, it will transform your life.

Not only that, but it has the power to completely revolutionize your business as well. Gratitude instantly changes the mindset you’re in, and amplifies the success and positivity you’re experiencing, helping you become a more magnetic (aka more successful) entrepreneur. I fully believe in the power of practicing gratitude, and love to incorporate it into my morning routine each day. So, below I’m sharing with you 5 specific ways that gratitude can transform your business, as well as some ideas for practicing gratitude to help you get started today!

1. Gratitude helps you feel happy.

Gratitude and happiness go hand and hand. The more gratitude you feel and express, the more happiness you will feel and express. The more happiness you feel and express, the more you will attract new clients and build new business relationships to help you take your business to the next level.

It’s true that happiness and positivity are magnetic. This new outlook and energy will show through in all of the work that you’re doing, all of the people you’re interacting with, and everywhere you show up as the face of your brand. Not only that, but it will draw people and opportunities towards you, making it considerably easier to build the business of your dreams.

2. Gratitude helps you be present.

Gratitude immediately brings you into the present moment by helping you focus on the things you’re grateful for in your life right now. Presence (the ability to give someone your full, undivided attention) is key to becoming the entrepreneur you want to be, and immediately makes people feel important and cared for when they’re around you.

If you can give the gift of presence to your audience, you’ll be remembered and loved as someone who stands out from the masses of business owners who are too busy and too distracted to give their full attention to their business and their audience.

3. Gratitude is the antidote to neediness and desperation.

Imagine a business owner you admire and look up to. Is that person needy or desperate? Probably not. Yet many women go about building their businesses based in at least one of these emotions, mostly because they don’t know, or haven’t experienced, anything different before.

Gratitude will shift your mindset into abundance, immediately dissolving this neediness and desperation, making you more magnetic to prospective clients and everyone you meet. It will set you up to become the entrepreneur that others will admire.

4. Gratitude changes your body language.

Body language is the first thing other people notice about you. When you experience gratitude, your energy softens and joy fills your heart, mind, and body. When you shift from a poverty mindset to gratitude, your face softens and your whole body appears more relaxed.

Gratitude is an excellent tool to adjust your body language and allow you to portray the persona that is the business owner you aspire to be.

5. Gratitude helps you access warmth.

Warmth, also known as friendliness, compassion, empathy, love, kindness, etc. is key to becoming the business owner you want to be, and taking your business to the next level.

Gratitude helps you express warmth because it makes you feel happy, and when you feel happy, you are naturally more friendly, kind, and compassionate. When you are warm toward others, they want to be around you more because they feel understood, loved, and special in your presence.

Imagine how your business will grow when you can make people feel this good!

HOW TO EXPERIENCE MORE GRATITUDE:

Gratitude can be difficult to access because we live in a culture that constantly tells us we shouldn’t be happy with what we have, that we constantly need to “hustle” for more. However, I’ve learned over my 11+ years as an entrepreneur that gratitude is absolutely essential to becoming a successful business owner. So, I recommend you start practicing gratitude with the methods outlined below.

To begin, start with the little things in your environment that you can see, feel, hear, smell, or taste right now. For example, the crackling fire that warms your feet, the beautiful music you listen to as you work, or the delicious meal you get to enjoy with a loved one. Take a moment to focus on each of these small, beautiful things and allow yourself to feel grateful for the opportunity to experience them in this moment.

Another great way to practice gratitude is to share it with your loved ones or colleagues! When someone does something particularly meaningful to you, take a moment to go beyond “thank you” and let them know just how much that moment meant to you, and how much you appreciate them. This is a great way to use gratitude to build your relationships!

I’ll admit, there have been times in my life where I’ve wanted to sit with my negative emotions, rather than trying to turn them around with gratitude. If you’re feeling this way, I recommend just going through the gratitude motions – smile at others, say thank you (and mean it), maybe even take a few seconds to write a note on your phone of something you’re grateful for. By going through the motions, you’ll inspire your subconscious to actually feel and benefit from them.

One of my favorite ways to practice gratitude is through journaling. Whether you want to journal, or just want to think through in your mind, here are some questions to reflect on:

  • Who do I appreciate in my life?
  • What abilities do I have that I’m grateful for? (For example, the ability to have lunch with a friend in the middle of a work day, or the ability to work from anywhere in the world when I want to travel)
  • What in nature inspires me? What does that feel like?
  • What is one kind or thoughtful thing someone did for me recently? (Did your partner cook you a delicious meal, did someone pay it forward at your local coffee shop, etc.)
  • Where do you feel most calm?
  • What’s one thing you’ve enjoyed doing recently, or a time you genuinely had fun and enjoyed?
  • What’s something about yourself that you love and would never change?
